Three-peat for Powers, Falvey at state juniors racquetball tourney

The third time - just like the first and second - was a charm for Mukwonago's Jordan Powers, who pulled off a three-peat Saturday at the 2007 Wisconsin State Juniors Racquetball Tournament, held at the Prairie Athletic Club (PAC) and sponsored by New Again Refinishing of Sun Prairie.

Powers won the 18-and-under (18-U) division for the third straight year, defeating Milwaukee 's Brad Falvey in the final for the second straight year. Powers, who will be playing racquetball at the University of Alabama next year, also teamed with Tayler Studinski of Sun Prairie to take second place in All-Age Doubles.

Studinski had a nice run in the 12-U division, winning a pair of matches before falling to Green Bay 's Max Dalebroux in a tiebreaker in the championship match.

Like Powers, Falvey won his third straight title as well, taking the 14-U. Franklin 's Franklin 's Connor Hueffner had a great tournament, placing second in both the 14-U and 16-U.

Green Bay 's Joey Salamone, who took second in the 16-U last year, topped Hueffner for the 16-U title.

Other state champs included Nick Richardson (Green Bay, 10-U); Justus Benson (Sun Prairie (8-U); Tyler Tanko (Stevens Point. 13-U 2-bounce); Michael Fredenberg (Sun Prairie, 9-U 2-bounce); Steele Beatty (Milwaukee, 8-U multi-bounce); and the team of Drew Brannigan (Madison) and Amy Miller (Sun Prairie) in All-Age Doubles.

A total of 37 players from around the state played in the tournament, a slight increase from 2006. Results of the tournament are listed below.
